Home Care Support Worker – Training Package

This unique programme offers learners the opportunity to complete the required courses, and receive the relevant qualifications, in order to provide appropriate and safe healthcare support in a client’s home.

We currently offer this programme over a five week period. Learners will attend classes two days per week. 100% attendance is required in order to pass successfully.

Course Structure

The order in which the training is delivered may vary from programme to programme. All learners will be issued with a timetable prior to starting a programme. Please see below for the planned programme for Mullingar, July 2019.

All tutors on this programme are qualified in their specific fields to a minimum of Degree level (Level 8). Our tutors also have practical experience in their individual fields, along with experience and qualifications in adult training and development.

Course Materials

Currently, learners are emailed the handouts required each week. Please note that while you may like to print out your handouts, laptops and tablets are welcome in class. We are currently working on an online platform for course materials and hope learners will be able to avail of this in early 2019.

Your tutor may also recommend some online reading to complete between classes.

Entry Requirements

Learners are usually required to have completed the Leaving Certificate or equivalent, however, relevant work/life experience will also be considered. Competence in written and oral English is essential. Learners should be confident in the use of, and have access to, internet and email.

Work Experience

Although work experience is not mandatory in order to complete this training, Aspire Training will support learners who wish to volunteer in the area in order to gain some practical experience. Please speak to the Course Co-ordinator if you wish to volunteer while completing this programme.


The usual cost for this training package is €850.00. However, learners who sign up to the full programme will receive a discount of €150.00 and the fee for this full programme is €700.00.

Payment is made in three instalments as follows:

Payment 1: €100.00 Booking deposit is payable to secure your place on the course

Payment 2: €300.00 payable before your first class

Payment 3: €300.00 payable before your second class

Please note that deposits are non-refundable, unless the course is changed or cancelled by ourselves.

If you are in receipt of a payment from the Department of Social Protection, on a CE Scheme or participating in an Activation Scheme, you may be eligible for some funding. Please contact the office for further advice in relation to this.
